Salamol CFC Free Inhaler 100 mcg contains the generic ingredient Salbutamol. Salbutamol belongs to a group of medicines called fast acting bronchodilators. Bronchodilators help reduce inflammation and keep the airways open to your lungs, as well as relieving chest tightness, wheezing, and coughing.
Salamol CFC Free Inhaler 100 mcg Salbutamol works by stimulating the receptors in the lungs, called beta 2 receptors. This causes the muscles to relax and allows an easier time breathing.
Once inhaled, Salamol CFC Free Inhaler 100 mcg Salbutamol normally starts to take effect within 15 minutes and can last up to two to six hours.
Salamol and other salbutamol medicines are used to open up the airways and make breathing easier in people with breathing problems including:
asthma.
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Salbutamol inhalers like Salamol are blue and known as 'relievers'. They work very quickly to open the airways and are used when needed to relieve asthma attacks, wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, or shortness of breath.
If your asthma is triggered by exercise or allergies you can also use your salbutamol inhaler shortly before exercising, or if you know you're going to be exposed to allergens that trigger your wheezing, such as pet fur or pollen. This will open your airways and help prevent wheezing.
Always follow the advice and guidance given to you by your doctor when taking this medicine. If you’re not sure about something check with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
The following is a guide on how to use Salamol Inhaler.
Before using the inhaler, ensure that it’s clean. You MUST make sure that you clean your inhaler once a week to prevent any blockage.
When ready, make sure you are standing or sitting in an upright position. Hold the inhaler in an upright position also as the inhaler will not work if it’s not held correctly.
Before use, test the inhaler by firing two shots into the air. Only do this if the inhaler hasn’t been used for a period of five days or more.
After all of the above has been read and tested, a step-by-step guide on how to use the inhaler –
Take the cap off the inhaler. Make sure the mouthpiece is clean.
Hold the inhaler upright, with your thumb on the base and your first finger on the top of the can. Now shake the inhaler strongly up and down.
Breathe out normally as far as you comfortably can. Hold the mouthpiece firmly between your lips.
Breathe in slowly and deeply. As you start to breathe in, press the aerosol can with your first finger to spray the aerosol and release the medicine. Continue to breathe in slowly and deeply.
Take the inhaler out of your mouth and hold your breath for 10 seconds, or as long as you comfortably can. Then breathe out slowly.
If more than one dose is needed, wait up to one minute before following step 2 again. Once you’re finished with the blue inhaler salamol, put the cap back on.
