What is Salatac Gel?

Salatac Gel is an effective treatment to treat warts, verrucas, corns, and calluses.

This gel comes with an emery board and special applicator to make it easy to apply effectively to the affected area.

What are the active ingredients in Salatac Gel and how do they work?
 

The active ingredients in Salatac are salicylic acid and lactic acid. These break down the keratin in the affected skin area and kill the virus that causes a wart or verruca. This product will also soften hard skin, making removing it easier with a pumice stone or emery board. 
 

What are warts and verrucas?
 

Warts and verrucas are small growths of skin caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They aren’t typically anything to worry about, but they can spread easily if left untreated due to the highly infectious nature of HPV. 
 

Warts: Generally appear on the fingers or the back of your hands.

Verrucas: Only occur on the soles of the feet. 
 

What are Corns and Calluses?

Corns and calluses are hard, thick pads of skin caused by pressure and friction.
 

Corns and Calluses: Usually appear on the feet due to poorly fitting shoes, or on the hands.

Warnings and Precautions

Do not use if:

• You are allergic to any of the ingredients this product contains
• You are diabetic or suffer from poor blood circulation to your hands or feet.

Do not use Salactol:

• On birthmarks, moles, or warts with hairs growing from them
• On or anywhere near your face, armpits, breasts, bottom, genital area, or any area with broken skin

Speak to your GP or Pharmacist before use if:

• You are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding
• You are unsure if you have a wart or verruca

Ingredients

Active ingredients are salicylic acid (12.0% w/w) and lactic acid (4.0% w/w).

Other ingredients are camphor, pyroxylin, ethanol, and ethyl acetate.

How do I apply Salatac Gel?

Dosage:

Apply once every day, usually in the evening.

• Soak the area for 2-3 minutes and dry thoroughly with a towel (do not share this towel with anyone else to prevent the spreading of the virus).
• Squeeze the tube, apply one to two drops of the gel onto the affected area, and allow it to dry.
• Once dried properly the gel will have created a white water-resistant film over the wart/verruca which will need peeling off each night before re-application of the gel.
• Once weekly file down the area with a pumice or fine emery carefully removing excess skin which has softened throughout treatment.
• Only once the wart or verruca has completely disappeared should you stop treatment (this can take up to 12 weeks if it exceeds this time please speak to your GP)

What are the side effects of Salatc Gel?

Possible side effects:

• A slight tingling sensation which may be accompanied by some mild tenderness in the treated area. 
• If you accidentally let the gel touch normal skin you may experience irritation in the area.
