What is  Voltarol 1.16% Pain Relief Gel?
 

Voltarols 1.16% Paint Relief Gel is an Anti-Inflammatory gel used for the treatment of back pain and muscle pains. It can also be used for osteoarthritis joint pain relief. It contains diclofenac diethylammonium, which is one of a group of medicines known as Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) and helps reduce inflammation and swelling.

How does the active ingredient diclofenac diethylammonium work to ease aches and pains?
 

Diclofenac works by blocking the production of some of the body’s chemicals that cause pain, tenderness, and inflammation. The gel to penetrates deeply into the skin to enhance the delivery of diclofenac to the point of pain. 
 

Warnings and Precautions

Not suitable for use on anyone under 14 years of age.

Do not apply to cuts, wounds, sunburned skin, or other areas where the skin is abnormal, or near the eyes or nose.

Do not cover it with a bandage or plaster.

DO NOT USE IF:

• You are allergic to any of the ingredients this product contains or have had an allergic reaction to any other NSAIDs.

• You are taking diclofenac or other NSAIDs such as aspirin or ibuprofen.

• You have ever had an asthma attack, wheezing, hives, or runny nose after taking these ingredients.

Speak to your GP or our Pharmacist before use if:

• You have a stomach or duodenal ulcer or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

• You have an underlying medical condition and are taking any other medication or complementary therapy.

Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.

Storage:

Do not store above 30°c.

Active Ingredients: Diclofenac Diethylammonium 1.16%

Other Ingredients: Diethylamine, carbomers, cetomacrogol, cocoyl capryloccaprate, isopropyl alcohol, perfume creme 45 (containing benzyl benzoate), propylene glycol, purified water, liquid paraffin.

How do I apply Voltarol 1.16% Pain Relief Gel?

Directions:

Apply to the affected area THREE to FOUR times a day.

Do Not use it for more than 14 days.

What are the side effects of Voltarol 1.16% Pain Relief Gel?
 

Common side effects:

• heartburn, gas, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting;

• diarrhea, constipation;

• headache, dizziness, drowsiness;

• stuffy nose;

• itching, increased sweating;

• increased blood pressure; or.

• skin redness, itching, dryness, scaling, or peeling where the medicine was applied.
